As with each new release of Mac OS X, Apple made incremental improvements to Snow Leopard. Some of the new features in Snow Leopard include support for Microsoft Exchange (without having to use Entourage), complete 64-bit computing and an accross-the board speed bump.

Unless you majored in computer science, it’s probably easier to think of 1 gigabyte as simply 1000 megabytes (or 1,000,000,000 bytes). In fact, a gigabyte is technically 1024 bytes cubed, or 1,073,741,824 bytes.

For the sake of convenience, the Finder in Snow Leopard now computes file sizes differently, counting a gigabyte as simply 1000 cubed. So as an example, a file measuring 252,916,507 bytes showed up as 241.2MB in Leopard. That same file now appears as 252.9MB in Snow Leopard.
